Abstract
The text describes the editorial experience of restructuring Temáticas between 2016 and 2022, when a group of editors took over the committee and designed a medium-term project for the journal, in line with broader changes that have occurred in Brazilian postgraduate studies and scientific journals in recent years. More specifically, we share the difficulties of this process and discuss the formative role of the journal for editors, authors, and reviewers, aiming to contribute to ongoing discussions about the challenges and possibilities of scientific publishing in the country. We suggest here that publishing practiced by students in the field of Social Sciences can be thought of as a form of intellectual craftsmanship that is done collectively.
