Abstract

This work is an exploratory study about teaching-learning introductory programming by secondary students. It departs from three pillars to identify methods and strategies in order to evaluate the students’ progress: educational robotics, the constructionist method and the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. To achieve this, two applications were conducted with high school students in Rio de Janeiro’s public schools with no programming background. The results were analyzed and compared with a programming course offered by a local federal university. The results of this study are expected to open ways for new proposals and identify ways for the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education in Brazilian public schools.
