Resumo
O objetivo do artigo é apresentar o debate sobre os desdobramentos da Indústria 4.0 no mundo do trabalho com base em relatórios de organismos multilaterais, estudos acadêmicos e projeções de empresas de consultoria acerca das transformações tecnológicas e seus impactos sobre o emprego. Primeiro, são analisadas as principais mudanças na estrutura econômica em face do avanço da “manufatura avançada”. Em seguida, são discutidos os impactos da automação sobre o trabalho, destacando o processo de destruição e criação de empregos e as novas formas de organização laboral. Fica evidente o impacto heterogêneo das inovações tecnológicas sobre o emprego, comparando países centrais e periféricos, em relação ao ritmo das mudanças, aos setores econômicos e grupos sociais mais afetados, e ao nível de qualificação dos empregos eliminados e criados. Ao final, são feitos breves apontamentos sobre as especificidades brasileiras.
