Resumo
Este texto introdutório versa sobre as imagens de caça, particularmente do leão, na Pérsia aquemênida (c. 550 – 330 a.C.). Partindo de cinegéticas registradas em diversos suportes, cotejadas à tradição textual de matriz grega, Xenofonte em particular, o objetivo central será aventar os motivos pelos quais os reis persas, sobretudo Ciro (c. 600 – 530 a.C.) e Dario I (550 a.C. – 486 a.C.), se fizeram representar engajados nas caçadas ao leão.
