Brazil is what kills: the political strength of the word in "Não vão nos matar agora"

Abstract

Published by the Encruzilhada collection, by the publisher Cobogó, which seeks to guide anti-racism, feminisms and anti-colonialism in the context of a critical theory, Não vão nos matar agora brings together texts, letters and articles by the artist and researcher of image, poetry, theory criticism and performance by Jota Mombaça. The book appears in a context of intense political mobilization of debates around cisgenderism, racism and whiteness, but also of anti-racist uprisings as a way of creating “barricades”, to use the author’s term, against fascism and the politics of extermination of dissident bodies of gender and race that prevails today. Thus, I present in this text some of the elements brought by Mombaça in her clues-to-the-escape texts.
