Insertion of women and men with higher level education in the brazilian labour market

Abstract

Higher education has been an important factor in the professional advancement of women. Female achievements in the educational field have not been accompanied by achievements of an equivalent size in the labour market. The gender pay gap, although occurring at all educational levels, is greater in the higher education occupations, where women constitute more than half of those employed with this level of education. Many occupations with higher-level educational requirements do not provide high incomes to women as they do to men with the same educational levels, as well as women's greatest difficulty in empowerment and decision-making spaces. This article studies these differences between men and women with a higher education level.
