Resumo
O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar reflexões iniciais de ordem teórica e metodológica a respeito da apropriação do conceito de diplomacia científica na área de história das ciências, cujos resultados têm se mostrado promissores. Na primeira seção, apresenta as principais definições e problematizações do conceito de diplomacia científica, um termo recentemente surgido no vocabulário das relações internacionais, mas uma prática antiga dos campos diplomático e científico. Em seguida, apresenta as apropriações do conceito pela historiografia das ciências, a partir de comentários sobre a literatura produzida entre 2020 e 2021, e publicada em revistas das áreas de relações internacionais, história contemporânea e história das ciências. Por fim, apresenta comentários sobre experiências de pesquisa na área da história da diplomacia científica no Brasil, a fim de auxiliar na elaboração de pesquisas futuras que visem a analisar as relações entre ciência e diplomacia em uma perspectiva histórica, com sugestões a respeito dos arquivos a serem visitados, as tipologias documentais a serem coletadas, a forma de análise das fontes e os cuidados a serem tomados na etapa de elaboração da narrativa histórica.
