Abstract
At times of financial crisis, many national governments were forced to negotiate agreements with the International Monetary Fund to receive loans; in return, they had to adopt a Structural Adjustment Program. However, prolonged fiscal austerity has greatly damaged social policies in the respective countries. This text presents the seven articles that make up this dossier, thus seeking to introduce the debate on “social protection in times of austerity”.
