Abstract
In the text, I try to make a theoretical exercise around some conceptions about human agency, relating them to the discussion of the relationship between action and structure. For this, I use the scheme that Jeffrey Alexander (1987) traces to understand the movement of sociological theory in this century. In a first moment, I discuss the concepts of Althusser, E. P. Thompson and Giddens to, in a second moment to bring them closer to the conceptions of "lay theorists", using the characters of the films Lawyer of the Devil and Conspiracy Theory. Thus, following the theoretical exercise, I use cinematographic objects as a didactic tool in the understanding and discussion of sociological theories.
