Abstract

In the short book “O Antropoceno e as Humanidades” (The Anthopocene and Humanities) published in 2023, José Eli da Veiga explores two acute symptoms of the dissociation between the knowledge produced in the natural sciences and the humanities or social sciences today: the widespread ignorance of the important contribution that Charles Darwin made to the latter in his second great work, The Descent of Man (1871), and the rather heterogeneous, but generally vague and late reaction that they had to the question of the Anthropocene.
