Abstract
The purpose of this article is to relate some of the questions present in two books based on the subject of the gift, The Enigma of the Gift, by Maurice Godelier, and The Gender of the Gift by Marilyn Strathern, trying to focus specially on a discussion about the concepts of alienation and inalienability, property and possession.
