About "El baile de los solteros"

Abstract

Pierre Bourdieu is one of the most prominent authors of French social thought of the past 20th century. In this review we propose to think, show and relate a “lesser known” work - such as El baile de los solteros (2004). In the course of the work, we will see different moments of the French author's intellectual career, which starts from a more ethnographic work done in the 1960s, and we will also see how, with the development of the book, theoretical reflections and categories are gaining space at the expense of of the most ethnographic data. Through this work, in which it addresses the problem of the reproduction of the French peasantry in the Bearne region, we will accompany the process of deepening and densifying Pierre Bourdieu's thought.
