The dynamics of the Argentine cinema field in the mid-nineties: Lucrecia Martel and the signs of renewal

Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the dynamics of the Argentine cinema field in the mid-90s, taking Pierre Bourdieu's theory of cultural fields as a reference. To do so, we will focus first on some reflections on the problem of approaching the study of cinema from this theory, and then we will move on to the analysis itself. At the same time, we will take some aspects of the cinematographic production of a director, Lucrecia Martel, that allow us to illustrate the logic of the Argentine cinema field of this period and the positions of some of the agents involved, mainly the critics.
