On strike, freedom and rhinos

Abstract

Departing from the context of the 2016 strike at Unicamp, marked by a politically fragile environment and intensification between different actors / actresses in the institutional and civil clash, this text proposes a critical analysis of the montage “Canto para Rhinos e Homens”, staged in that year by the Teatro do Osso company. Based on the dramaturgy “The Rhino” by Eugène Ionesco, the play that serves as an emblem here reveals and twists a series of explicit and implicit contradictions in the wave of conservatism that has accompanied the economic crisis and the irresponsible and indecent institutional political management. Elaborated by masters in training during the strike period, the review is elaborated as a dialogue-debate and collaboratively written in an essay style, and reflects in its form the elaboration of a space where the academic norms for the production of scientific knowledge could be placed in perspective. We hope, with the text that follows, to provoke reflections in the readers concerning the own values ​​and convictions that have governed our conceptions about the human and the worlds we want.
