Abstract

The proposal to organize this dossier appeared in the second half of 2016, as a way to create a record of the different perspectives on the events that occurred throughout the year, and that could be used
as support in future research and reflections on this period, which was historically marked by the impeachment process of the former president-elect Dilma Rousseff, followed by her removal; protests against the holding of the world cup; and the arrest of Rafael Braga, a recyclable material collector who carried a bottle of cleaning product in the context of the protests in Rio de Janeiro. These latest facts, together with the disappearance of bricklayer Amarildo de Souza in 2013 and the murder of Claudia Silva Ferreira in 2014, scandalized the situation of mass incarceration and genocide of the black and peripheral population and the precarious process in public education in the country.
