Abstract
What scope of validity can scientific knowledge aspire to? Where is modern science headed? In Karl Popper's opinion, there was no doubt: “in the field of science, we have something like a criterion for judging the quality of a theory compared to its predecessor, and therefore a criterion for progress” (Popper, 1978: 68 ).
