How to Cite
Abstract
Based on the concept of lakou, in rural Haitian contexts, and its characteristics, I will reflect on studies carried out in Haiti in the middle of the 20th century, in search of what was understood as family and home in these works. Bearing in mind the discomfort caused by statements that preached the crisis and the death of the lakou, I will analyze a nomination situation that I followed, revealing practices that remain, even when drastic changes affect people's lives. In a second step, I will focus on issues related to ritual kinship, the ways of organizing work and markets. To think of lakou is, in a way, to take into account the history and transformation processes that Haiti, in its diversity, has gone through and has gone through.
