Abstract
Based on a set of texts by Norbert Elias and Pierre Bourdieu, two of the most significant sociologists of our time, we focus on the form of relational thinking that underlies the work of these social scientists, and we show how this way of thinking implies a critique of substantialist and realistic forms of thought and that this criticism takes place from the questioning of subject / object relations. On the other hand, we show how important Elias and Bourdieu are to history as a scientific discipline in the process of sociological research.
