Resumo

O paradigma da “Indústria 4.0” está presente na estratégia de governos, associações patronais e centrais sindicais. Revisitando o estudo clássico de Piore e Sabel sobre especialização flexível, criticamos a unilateralidade e estreiteza inerentes ao discurso da Indústria 4.0, ao qual contrapomos análises empíricas sobre redes descentralizadas de fábricas. Ao contrário do relato estilizado predominante, a flexibilidade é facilitada por plataformas “B2B”, que conectam fabricantes e clientes – um modelo que se baseia mais na versatilidade das redes de produção descentralizada do que em avançada tecnologia industrial. Os efeitos sobre o trabalho são ambivalentes, pois envolvem tanto potencialidades para um paradigma de produção em pequena escala e intensiva em trabalho qualificado, como perigos decorrentes da pressão concorrencial por redução de custos. Em suma, nosso objetivo é oferecer evidências teóricas e empíricas para a compreensão de alterações da produção digitalizada e destacar o modelo das redes e plataformas “B2B” no debate sobre a transformação da manufatura e do trabalho industrial.
