Abstract

The article evaluated the evolution of economic and social dimensions in France in the period before and after the international financial crisis that started in 2008. In the economic dimension, there was less dynamism in aggregate demand and loss of France's share in the total and manufacturing product in the European Union and advanced economies, with persistently high unemployment. In the social dimension, France stood out among developed countries with better wage indicators and high social spending. The liberal proposal for the French economic recovery has been to reduce social spending and make the labour market more flexible. The article argued in the opposite direction. The strengthening of the social dimension is the best way to boost the French economy
