Street, may our voices be heard: a phonoaudiological contribution about the voice in the national rap

Abstract

This article has the purpose of to assess the importance of vocal work as a training to MC's professional voice in Brazil. It seeks to comprehend and widen the use of technical expedients to satisfy demands of a music style in large-scale production. The understanding of the origins of Hip Hop culture and the emergence of Rap music are fundamental to develop analysis, observation and technical training for this professional, as
well for the understanding of its history, its maturity and its current vocal needs. With this overview, we hope to contribute for the acknowledgment of MC as a professional on artistic voice and to widen their access to the vocal work, which can guarantee their voice health and to improve their performance.
