Abstract
The book by the American historian Marissa J. Moorman is the result of her doctoral research carried out in Luanda, Angola, from 1997 to 2005. Intonations approaches the recent history of Angola from a point of view, less bloody and more sonorous , less suffering and more dancing, emphasizing the relationship between local music and the construction of a feeling of an independent, sovereign and culturally self-sufficient nation.
