Resumo
Por duas vezes em 1980, um coletivo de artistas-ativistas organizou a ocupação de imóveis “abando-nados” ou subutilizados de Manhattan, em Nova York. Por duas vezes naquele ano, o Colab, como era conhecido, transformou momentaneamente tais construções em suporte de intervenção e expo-sição artística, mas também em objeto e palco para manifestações políticas. Em ambas as vezes, o grupo confrontou a produção tanto artística quanto urbana, entrando na disputa pelo controle do solo urbano e da legitimação artística. Cabe a este trabalho apresentar os eventos citados e discutir, ainda que breve-mente, suas relações com a dinâmica urbana e com a prática artística de ponta do período.
