Abstract
The invitation to exhibit in a city on the outskirts of Lisbon raises an artistic project about a specific place: a ruined cinema called Lido. From facts to semantic potential, a conceptual paradigm is generated for a set of previous and recent paintings and a series of new collages. This text is about this project in mediation with the place. It is also about the coexistence, in contemporary painting, of a dynamic double between the vital energy and the melancholic drive. When it is the look itself that generates the work, the essential question focuses on the relationship with reality, what of the world persists in it and how to deal with it all. This is, therefore, a case of this constant struggle.
