Abstract

By tracing a brief overview of the representation of movement, from prehistoric art, through the Renaissance and the avant-garde works from the beginning of the 20th century to the era of digital images, we notice how the human figure comes to play an increasingly central role in this kind of dynamic representation. From the notions of “kinesphere” (Rudolf Laban) and “egosphere” (Oskar Schlemmer), we can identify a dual condition of the body: which works either as an anchoring point of spatial architecture or as a blind spot for a mobile and machinic eye that refers to the Vertovian “cine-eye”.
