Material and object against form

Abstract

The article focuses on two proposals to refute the concept of form. The first is made by the researcher and artist Denise Ferreira da Silva, who defends an interpretation of art works based on raw materials, which result in the so-called black feminist poetics. The other is made by the researcher Sérgio Martins, who proclaims a greater critical validity of the notion of object to approach contemporary art works. The article tries to indicate how inconsistencies arise in the reasoning of the two authors and how, ultimately, the idea of ​​form is contested in a weak way and gets strengthened.
