Abstract
It is widely accepted that the bronze statuette known as Samson and the Philistines, whose reproductions can be seen in various European and American collections, was cast from a plastic model made by Michelangelo Buonarroti. Although the artist’s original model was not preserved, there remains, however, a considerable number of visual and textual documents that researchers use to employ in order to support this attribution. Along with this paper, presenting a drawing of the circle of Antonio Pollaiolo to be confronted with the group of Samson and the Philistines, we intend to offer a contribution to
strengthen the links between this work and Michelangelo
