Abstract
The painter-decorator Jerônimo da Silva can be considered one of the most pleasant artists of the Joanine period. He began his studies in Lisbon in the early years of the eighteenth century and was active until the mid-century. Little is known about his personal life, and even less about his artistic formation. His most intense work is the decoration of the ceiling and the side walls of the Main-Chapel of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Pena, in Lisbon, around 1720, a work that survived the earthquake of 1750 and which allows us to identify one side of the ceiling painting in the time of D. João V.
