Abstract

This article analyzes the first poster designed by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Chabloz for the Special Service for the Mobilization of Workers to Amazonia (SEMTA) in 1943: a piece entitled More rubber for victory. Issues related to the aesthetic approach adopted by Chabloz and the artist’s knowledge of the activities related to rubber production will be addressed, as well as a discussion of the idealized character of the scene represented.
