Abstract
Introduction: The structuring of data sets on Biodiversity are being disseminated in a language reserved for describing the substrate of scientific communication called Data Papers, that is, the data that support scientific research in this field of knowledge, regardless of the traditional model of scientific communication. Objective: To analyze the publications in Data Papers format in the field of Biodiversity at the international level. Methodology: The study is characterized as documentary research with a qualitative approach and applies techniques for collecting and examining information through Content Analysis. It verifies the situation of 33 journals listed by the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) that offer publications in Data Papers format. It identifies: the themes related to biodiversity, the types of licenses, indexers, the number of Data Papers published, the titles that have open or closed access, the journals that most publish Data Papers on Biodiversity and the language in which they were published. Results: The number of Data Papers in the field of Biodiversity has increased steadily in several topics involving its entire ecosystem, indicating that they are being accepted by more and more researchers. Conclusion: The Data Papers analyzed are characterized as peer-reviewed documents and represent indexed datasets with metadata standards suitable for digitally preserving the data recorded in the journals that were included in this analysis.
