The life of Jesus Christ without the letter 'm', by Fulgentius, the Mythographer: translation of book XII of the lipogram De aetetibus mundi et hominis

Abstract

This is the first translation made into the Portuguese language and the first made in the form of a lipogram from book XII of the work De aetatibus mundi et hominis, attributed to the North African and late author Fulgentius, the Mythographer (late 5th - early 6th century). De aetatibus is a consecutive lipogram divided into a prologue and 14 books, with restrictions in the letters that go from ‘a’ to ‘o’. In this twelfth book, Fulgentius discusses the life of Jesus Christ, avoiding the use of lexical units that contain the letter 'm'. Finally, it should be noted that the proposed translation text was carried out from the critical edition made by Latinist philologist Rudolf Helm (1898).
