Accessible literature in the UNICAMP Vestibular: promoting inclusion in higher education

Abstract

In Brazil, according to the United Nations (UN), more than 45 million people have disabilities. Accessibility and inclusion are rights guaranteed by law and it is intended to gradually implement measures to remove barriers to equal access by people with disabilities to higher education. In this context, initiatives that allow the adaptation of bibliographic materials such as literature books are important to allow access to registered information. The objective of this paper is to present the implementation of the digital space of the Accessible Entrance Examination of the Accessibility Laboratory (LAB) of the Central Library of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). As a result, since its implementation in 2019, 496 downloads of the adapted literature have been recorded by people with disabilities, with a gradual increase in accesses, which demonstrates good prospects for an increase in the number of people with disabilities entering the university as students.
