Abstract
The objective of the present work, based on Sidney Kasfir’s article “African Art and Authenticity: a text with a Shadow”, is to address the aspects related to the dissemination of traditional African art by the European collecting from the 18th and 19th centuries, which go from its reassessment, based on tradition and cultural authenticity, to the official categories that UNESCO has established to catalog and distinguish it from African tourist art.
