Abstract

The present essay is a fragmented part of an imagistic chapter from my doctoral thesis in Design entitled "Artisans, Artifacts and Artifacts: Narratives and trajectories in the process of building the Brazilian Rabeca". My main goal was to bring the reader closer to the Research Universe portrayed. In the thesis I propose a visual narrative of the circuit of production, circulation and use of Rabecas in that Research Universe. I present one of the collections of images divided into a thematic block that portrays a local cartography, explaining the places and paths of this circuit and evidencing the ways of doing and performing the Fandango Paranaense. In this imagetic walk, between the port city of Paranaguá and Ilha dos Valadares, on the coast of the state of Paraná, my attention was drawn to the various windows of both the colonial mansions and the rural properties that seemed to observe me as I walked. In this way, they served as a frame for the composition of the images, sometimes restricting the view and sometimes being crossed by it. In this way, artisans and artifacts constitute themselves in the circuit of production, circulation, and use in the performance of the Fandango in Ilha dos Valadares, PR, through a dynamic and complex process of social negotiation between subjects/subjects, subjects/artifacts, and sometimes artifacts/artifacts.
