Abstract
Sir Kenneth Dover, en su libro Greek PopularMorality in the Time ofPlato and Aristotle, indica que los griegos de la Antigüedad clásica "no esperaban que sus dioses fueran misericordiosos" (p. 156). En el cristianismo, por el contrario, ninguna fórmula resulta más familiar que la invocación kurie eleeson, "Señor, ten piedad", dirigida aJesús, y que sigue inmediatamente al Introito en la misa católica. La frase aparece pronto en la liturgia griega del rito oriental; en el occidental, sin embargo, se utilizaba la forma latina Domine miserere, hasta el siglo VII en que el Papa Gregorio I introdujo las palabras griegas en la misa.References
