Abstract
This paper offers a general presentation of Bacchylides’ carmen 15 – the first dithyramb in the Hellenistic edition of Bacchylides’ poems – as well as a translation of the poem into Portuguese. More specifically, the paper attempts to understand how Bacchylides manipulates the poem’s fundamental hypotexts – all of which come from archaic hexameter poetry – and to show that, in reworking those texts, the poet is also reflecting on the very nature of melic poetry in relation to epic poetry.
