Abstract
Virgil’s Eclogue 10 is probably one of his most prominent eclogues. Particularly in more recent decades, scholars have been interested in analysing the generic mixtures and metaliterary features which distinguish that composition. However, an important issue has been insufficiently explored so far, that is, the interaction between the layers of reality, fiction and autofiction in Virgil’s text. In view of this, this article proposes to present a short commentary on Virgil’s Eclogue 10, adding to that extensive debate on genres with a reflection about the effects of reality, fiction and autofiction deduced from the poem.
