Resumo
Discutida em uma passagem do livro V do De finibus de Cícero (Fin. V, 15-21), em meio a uma exposição do pensamento moral de Antíoco, a Carneadea diuisio pode ser entendida como o núcleo teórico do tratado. Este artigo apresenta uma tradução da passagem e busca, por um lado, analisar o argumento atribuído a Carnéades, levando em consideração o contexto em que ele se insere na obra e, por outro, investigar o modo como a divisão se relaciona com a organização do tratado e com a construção da postura acadêmica de Cícero.
