Abstract
In this article, a survey was carried out of iconographic records of A. longimanus, a morphologically sui generis beetle, native to the Americas, in European artistic and scientific sources of the 17th and 18th Centuries. Among others, works of the following artists or naturalists are commented: Jan Brueghel the Elder, Roelant Savery, Nehemiah Grew, Maria Sibylla Merian, Levinus Vincent and August Johann Rösel von Rosenhof. Brief biographies of these authors are provided.
