Author Guidelines

Submissions

Previous registration in the InPEC system is mandatory for the submission of Manuscripts (MS), as well as to monitor the ongoing editorial process.

Conditions for submission

As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify the submission's compliance with all items listed below. Submissions that do not comply with the following rules will be returned to the authors:

  • The contribution is original and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, this must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
  • URLs for references were provided when possible.
  • The text is typed in single space; use a 12-point font (pitch 12); using italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables must be inserted in the text, and not at the end of the document or as attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors, on the About the Journal page.
  • In case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (e.g. articles), the instructions available in Ensuring blind peer review must be followed.

Guidelines for Authors /
General Instructions

Manuscripts (MS) of articles, reviews, basic texts and/or translations (e.g. tutorials, books and experimental procedures, etc.), in Portuguese, Spanish or English, must be prepared in MS Word and submitted to the Editor as a single electronic file containing text, figures and tables. The submission must be sent to the care of the Editor, Prof. João Carlos de Andrade, by e-mail at joao.andrade@eccen.com.br or andradej@unicamp.br. A forwarding letter must also be sent in a separate file. Please label these files appropriately (e.g., mentioning the initials of the main author's name etc.), thus avoiding confusion. Supplementary materials such as games, videos, computer programs, animations etc. are also welcome.

The text should be divided into the usual sections, such as Abstract, Introduction, Experimental, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments and References. However, alternative distributions and divisions of the main sections into subsections may also be accepted, depending on the general context. Subsections must be presented in italics. The Abstract must be self-consistent, describing what has been done and presenting the conclusions, in up to 450 words, with a minimum of 150 words. Five to ten keywords must be indicated for each article. An Abstract and keywords in English and Spanish must also be included.

Tables must be included in the text of the submitted article and must be accompanied by their titles, placed at the top of each table. All tables must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals, in the order in which they appear in the text.

Only high-quality photos, figures, and drawings (color or black and white) (e.g. 300 dpi or higher) will be accepted. High resolution color digital photos (in JPEG or PNG format) with a height or width of about 3,000 pixels are strongly recommended. Figures should be prepared so that they are legible if they need to be reduced. Photos, figures, and drawings must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in the order they appear in the text and placed at the bottom of the page, along with their titles and description. Figures must also be included in the text of the submitted article. Once the manuscript (MS) is accepted for publication, both Tables and Figures may be requested separately from the author.

References must be numbered consecutively in the text using Arabic numerals in square brackets (e.g.:….,does not significantly affect the behavior of the gas as a whole [9,10].) and presented in the list of bibliographic references in the same order as they appear in the text. For the appropriate abbreviations for Journal Titles, see the “Chemical Abstracts”. Bibliographic citations must be done in accordance with the Vancouver style as exemplified in specific instructions.

Specific Instructions

  1. Title: As short and clear as possible.
  2. Authors' addresses: It is necessary to present each author's institutional email address. Please note that personal email addresses (such as zxzx@gmail.com) will not be accepted.
  3. Author for correspondence: indicate the author to whom requests should be sent.
  4. Font: Arial, pitch 12, typed with single space between lines
  5. Text: justified only on left side.
  6. Use the currently accepted nomenclature and recommendations for formulas and equations (IUPAC) and the SI unit system.
  7. Abstract: up to 450 words, with a minimum of 150 words.
  8. Keywords: from five to ten.
  9. Subsections: presented in italics.
  10. Equations: edited in the Microsoft Equation Editor.
  11. Before submitting games, videos, computer programs, animations etc., please contact the Editor, Prof. João Carlos de Andrade using one of the following email addresses: joao.andrade@eccen.com.br or andradej@unicamp.br
  12. Tables, Figures and Photos: see General Instructions
  13. Subscripts and Superscripts: always use the Microsoft Equation Editor.
  14. References must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals, in the same order and in the format that appear in the text. Write the authors' names in Bold and use the Vancouver style. If the cited reference is available online, please provide the link for access. If you wish, you can specify the doi register number. See the examples below:

Specific guidelines for teaching experiments

Describe the experiment in detail. If necessary, show and comment on the actions to be considered before its implementation and then describe sequentially the actions to be developed during its execution.

All experiments must be tested by the authors before being published. The full name and    e-mail address of the person responsible for the experimental verification must be provided. The results of all experimental tests, including calculations and reactions, must be sent in a separate file, together with the text of the experiment. It is recommended that the authors keep a copy of the tests performed and of all the results obtained for any queries by users of the site.

List all reagents and materials necessary for the execution of the experiment and specify precisely how to prepare the solutions to be used, emphasizing any special care that must be taken, if applicable.

Safety:
Always draw the user's attention to this item and comment on the safety rules to be adopted in the experiment, including data on the toxicity of the reagents (MSDS: Material Safety Data Sheet) and, if applicable, the procedures for the disposal of toxic substances. Draw attention to this item using the text:

Warning

Attention: Read the procedure carefully before starting the experiment. Do not do it without the support of your teacher. Ask for help if in doubt!

Accepted manuscripts

Once the manuscript is accepted, after the review procedures, the authors will be asked to submit a final manuscript, revised according to the reviewers and editors' suggestions, in the form of electronic files containing the text, figures, tables etc. After the final composition, proofs will be sent to the authors for a final verification, which should be returned to the editors as soon as possible.
