Abstract

The adolescence is a transforming stage with bio psychosocial development. The pregnancy carries transforming characteristics, with unique and subjective experiences to every pregnant woman. It is a moment characterized by deep conflicts and emotions, since it affects directly the woman's identity. Being pregnant as a teenager is a factor that intensifies the experience of emotional conflicts, causing helplessness, anxiety, anger and guilt feelings. Present the work carried out by psychology in a Teenager Prenatal. The Teenager Prenatal (PNA), at Hospital da Mulher - CAISM/UNICAMP is made up by a multi-professional team and provides service to pregnant women aged up to 18 years old. The psychological services occur through spontaneous demand or by health professional referrals, in an individual way, and if necessary, they are carried out with the pregnant woman's family and/or companion. The psychological help at PNA has proven to be a preventive mental health measure, to prepare the patient for a significant change in her life; it is necessary to have an educating and welcoming eye on psychology, which favors internal resources and mechanisms on the teenager, in order to reduce feelings and distresses that may cause suffering. The psychology work with pregnant teenagers is essential to help on resignifying this moment of intense transformations. The active listening and welcoming are ways to strengthen maternal ego, through expression of feelings related to the pregnancy and understanding the teenager's pregnancy experience, which may enable maturity and mother-baby bond.
