Abstract
The book in question is the result of Martins' doctoral thesis, defended in 2004 at the Faculty of Education of the State University of Campinas. The presentation by José Claudinei Lombardi, an important scholar in the history of education referenced in Marxism, highlights the epistemological clash being waged with post-modernity and its emphasis on the non-rational and subjective, seen as a kind of philosophical translation of the current “irrational” phase of capitalism.
