Abstract
Posteriormente, descrevemos a teoria da expectativa musical de David Huron, a qual traz dados experimentais e fatos biológicos à cena. Ainda que essas duas teorias deixem espaço para o fenômeno da geração de hipóteses na escuta musical significativa, elas não explicam como tal fenômeno ocorreria em termos biológicos, psicológicos ou lógicos. Nesse sentido, passamos a considerar a natureza do raciocínio abdutivo e seu papel na aquisição de conhecimento. Finalmente, apresentamos alguns exemplos que buscam ilustrar como a abdução pode complementar logicamente o entendimento atual sobre significado musical.
