The discovery of pathology and the consequent impossibility to breastfeed their baby make women to experience various feelings and emotions. Therefore, this work purpose is to present an integrative review on the Brazilian literature, which aims to analyze the feelings experienced by women bearing the HIV virus on the impossibility to breastfeed. The bibliographic survey was carried out in November 2015 and resulted in seven potential articles on the topic. After the analysis of all results found, we conclude that women bearing HIV virus experience various feelings, with the feeling of sadness being the most prevalent, arising from the feeling of helplessness and incapacity of meeting the children's needs. Then, the experience of the impossibility of breastfeeding is considered as emotionally exhausting, interfering in the way they eperience their motherhood, since in the Brazilian society breasteeding is strongly encouraged and breastfeeding is seen as the motherhood symbol.
