Abstract

The Hospital Psychology is a field of action in which investigation and treatment spin around the psychic aspects of the subject who gets sick. Psychological aspects such as feelings, memories, behaviors, thinkings that can be considered as maintenance factor, cause, worsening and/or triggering of the ilness process. This context is where the psychologist acts on, through the symbolic record word, where he/she searches, together with the subject, to understand the illness sense and meaning. PURPOSE: Present the Psychology Service at Hospital da Mulher Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti – CAISM. Method: The Psychology acts on this hospital for about 30 years on assistance and teaching. Currently, the team is made up by 5 psychologists, who act within the Gynecology, Neonatology, Obstetrics and Oncology areas, in ambulatories and admission units, through individual and/or group services. In the teaching field, Psychology helps on the specialization of new professionals through the Professional Improvement Program, from Unicamp's College of Medicine. Results: In the last five years, about 42,505 patients and/or relatives were served. While in 2011, about 9,103 services; in 2012, about 8,333, followed in 2013 with 8,185, 2014 with 8,648 and 2015 with 8,416. Conclusion: With respect to 30-year Psychology action on CAISM's hospital context, we perceive that it is extremely important and relevant for the psychologist's work, once it helps patients, relatives and team on the painful illness and treatment process.
