Abstract

Pregnancy has a unique meaning for every woman. It is affected by the moment lived by her and whether the pregnancy was planned or not. When the pregnancy is not planned, the woman may organize herself or not for the baby who will be born. And with the loss of it, she may be guilty, reaching a personal failure sensation. The abortion may be provoked, when a thinking becomes an action performed, so the pregnancy be interrupted, and a miscarriage when there is a loss of unborn child, without a voluntary action. At the Gynecology ward from Hospital da Mulher Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti – CAISM a supervising psychologist and two trainee psychologist ac. Patients admitted due to threat or ongoing abortion are followed up by Psychology during admission and after it, when the woman wishes to. On the ward services, the main purpose is to make women psychologically stronger in order to deal with this pregnancy loss. It is observed that patients who planned pregnancy and/or with loss history, present frustration, ego fragility or disorganization, with guilt report being frequent. There are women who discover pregnancy when the abortion is in progress or when they do not want to be mothers on this moment, it is observed that they present an emotional stability given the situation lived. Therefore, the reception to the woman in this delicate moment is essentially important, since, during admission, it is possible to work on some aspects related to guilt and follow up how she deals with this situation.
