Abstract

The anti-stress books were created as an art-therapy way, in France, when Johanna Basford released the adult-oriented coloring books. The drawings enable every person to create a unique work and be able to retake childhood experiences. The workshop purpose was to inspire the participant&";s creativity; stimulate peace of mind, integration and reflection; improve self-esteeem and decrease stress. Four meetings with three hours each were held, in the period from June 01-29, 2016, with participants of Unicamp&";s Senior Age University Program. Each meeting had 10-15 participants and were held at the Central Library’s Meeting Room. Printed drawings were offered to the group (men and women), with various themes to be chosen by them and pained with color pencil. During the workshops, some slides were presented with information about the psychologist&";s work; the self-esteem; the stress functioning and its health implications. In each meeting, a different relaxing activity was performed. 80 drawings from different themes were painted. During activities, the students shared some childhood experiences with drawing and feelings arising while they were painting. On the last meeting, the group exhibited the drawings requested by the team and observed the different choice of colors. At the end of meetings, the participants reported to have felt creative and calm.
