Abstract

CIPA UNICAMP, since the first management, has discussed about Unicamp's laboratory user safety, with the creation of Safe Laboratory work group, which prepared the project "Safe Laboratory - Preserving Lives". In this project, CIPA proposes measures for the university to standardize and adapt the safety conditions at teaching and research laboratories, especially for students (graduation, post-graduation, extension). The project has been presented in Unicamp collegium and units, warning on the need of mechanisms to endure the laboratory users' safety. In addition to the proposal, CIPA has been working to improve safety conditions at the laboratory activities, through the preparation of a Laboratory Safety Guide, on identification, correction or suggestions to improve issues on laboratory safety conditions in different units, and to empower employees on Quality Management and Laboratory Safety. The adoption of this management system in laboratory tends to provide the result reliability, the good resource use, and the user safety, as well as the whole bordering community and environment's safety, Safe Laboratory Work Group Members made a technical visit to LEAL Laboratory (FT - Unicamp), coordinated by Prof. Dr. Gisela de Aragão Umbuzeiro to experience concepts and functioning of a quality system in laboratory. CIPA, in partnership with EDUCORP, made available an employee empowerment course in Laboratory Quality Management, to be offered on the 2nd half/2016.
