Abstract

The information explosion, triggered by the Information and Communication Technologies, require new information access, assessment and organization skills, mainly in environments mediated by digital technologies. At the same time, in societies where the knowledge has a core role, the access for information processing and organization has not been enough, being necessary the modelling and transformation to create new knowledge to use it as sources for new ideas. The typical skills required for this dimension are investigation and problem-solving abilities, which lead to some point of definition, searching, assessment, selection, organization, analysis and information interpretation. This work’s goals are: conceive a competence program modelling in information for Unicamp's Library System (SBU) and implement in accordance with the established principles. The methodological procedures proposed are from qualitative natures, having exploratory, descriptive nature. The method modelling was based on Belluzzo's concepts and on the Report "Euroreferencial em Información y Documentación, v.1 - Competencias y aptitudes de los profesionales europeos de información y documentación", about the Informational Competence topic. The instruments used for data collection and treatment were interview, information source research and Excel Software. The obtained results were: Information Competence Program's Modelling for SBU, in which two strands, the infomation professionals and users; Information Competence Program's Implementation.
