Abstract

The Campinas State University’s Information Service to the Citizen (SIC – UNICAMP), entity linked to the University’s General Coordination (CGU), works to promote the institutional information’s transparency. The SIC-UNICAMP was implemented through GR Resolution no. 046/2012 and from GR Resolution no. 009/2016 its competences were extended. It is important to highlight that the implementation of SIC-UNICAMP complies with provisions from Article 9 from the Access to Information Law (LAI) – Federal Law no. 12.527/2011. The main purposes of SIC-UNICAMP are: 1) promote the information of collective interest to society and 2) meeting the citizens’ information demands. The SIC-UNICAMP’s effort results basically in identifying the institutional information of social interest to proceed with the promotion in the Site and receive the access orders to information to make the service viable. The information promoted must be regularly updated and the information list must be extended in line with the society’s interest. To meet the orders, it is essential to pay attention to the principles set forth by legislation, especially when it comes to meeting deadlines. Since the implementation of SIC-UNICAMP, we can note that the services provided have evolved. Its performance makes clear that the Entity represents a necessary tool to exercise citizenry, in a way that allows citizens to exercise the constitutional right of access to information, thus making viable the necessary conditions of participation and control of the University’s actions.
